The ski center of Kalavrita is located just 15 km away from the historic town of Kalavrita, in the Region Unit of Achaea (Peloponnese). It is the largest ski resort in the Peloponnese. The creation of the Kalavrita Ski Center was an idea of Panos Polkas, who served as the mayor of Kalavrita from 1974 to 1990, with the goal of promoting the development of the area based on tourism. The ski center of Kalavrita has been operating since 1988 and is located on the northwest side of Helmos (Aroania Mountains).
The base of the ski resort, where the visitor can find the chalet with the restaurant, cafe, the car park, some ski schools and ski equipment, is at 1,700 meters altitude while its peak reaches 2,350. There are slopes with all levels of difficulty, making the ski center of Kalavrita ideal for both beginners and experienced snow lovers.
