The construction of the Fortress of Aktio began at the end of the 18th century and was completed at the beginning of the 19th century by the Ali Pasha of Ioannina, who had identified the need for its construction in this place so that in combination with the Preveza fortress could control the entrance in the Amvrakikos Gulf. The fortress has a triangular top view with polygonal bastions at the corners. Inside the castle there are traces of older buildings. It has been designated as a historical monument by the Ministry of Culture.
