The National Park Messolonghi - Aetoliko Lagoon is located at the southwestern edge of Central Greece. The lagoon is the largest in Greece and one of the largest in the Mediterranean Europe.It has a length of 27,000 meters and a width of 14,000 meters, covering an area of approximately 112,000 square kilometers. The maximum depth is 5 meters, while at the most part it does not exceed half a meter. Inside the lagoon there are 8 islets (Vasiladi, Kleisova, Komma, Plostaina, Schinias, Tholi, Marmarou, Prokopanistos).
