Tsivlos Lake is located in the mountainous area of the Municipality of Akrata in the Region Unit of Achaea (Peloponnese), about 25 km from the city of Akrata, at an altitude of about 700 m. The lake is one of the few natural mountain lakes in Greece, located at the bottom of a cavity, surrounded by dense forests. The lake did not exist, its formation is connected with extremely harsh geological phenomena that occurred in 1913 and 1914.
The initial depth of the lake that was formed reached the 77 m. Today it still remains a very deep lake with steep banks. Its water is supplied by at least two springs below the surface and three streams coming from the near forests.
Its whole expanse is about 83 acres and the shoreline is 1800 m. However, its expanse area and shoreline are constantly fluctuating, as the level of the lake rises and falls depending on the season and the amount of the rainfall of each year.
