The castle of Vonitsa is built on a hill (65 m.) above the city of Vonitsa and is one of the best existing Byzantine and medieval castles of Western Greece. Its expanse is of about 100 acres. In its first form it was a building of the Byzantine era that was strengthened and expanded during the Venetian occupation.
